My first full day in Ohio was full of rain, so far the constant in the trip. I did an easy morning ride into Dayton, preparing to use it's many museums to avoid most of the heavy stuff. Dayton loves the wright brothers. I first visited the Aviation Herritage National Park which was mostly based around their invention of the biplane. I then visited Carillion Park, which is about four times bigger than I expected. It includes a replication of the Wright brother's bike shop, guided tours talking about how they developed the biplane, a frontier village, public transportation history building, bicycle history museum, history of many of the various things invented in Dayton (including the cash register) and for some reason a very large collection of german steins. There's also an attached brewery which mimics historical breweries in dress and beer style. Needlesstosay, I spent most of the day there. Which I was there, a flash flood warning was issue for the area. Between this and spending too much time at the museum, it was getting close to the time the rain was supposed to stop. There was no way I was going to make it to the closest campground before the downpour started. I picked out the cheapest hotel I could find close to my route (and without reviews mentioning bedbugs) and booked it there. Unfortunately in my hurry a tried to turn a very wet corner too quickly and crashed into the road. A few scraps, some damaged pride, and a missing screw later, I made it to the hotel a little before the rain started. I spent most of the night watching TV, and glancing out the window, glad for the roof over my head.
